Crazy Texas Weather

Earlier this week Caroline wanted to swing in the back yard and it was so cold we had to wrap her up!

Caroline and Farrah both had their scarves on while they watched tv...

Breakfast at Ozona's

This morning we had breakfast at Ozona's with Sammy, Rachael, and Will Scoggin, David Malain, and April Struss. It was a lot of fun to catch up and watch Caroline and Will renew their friendship. Here are some pictures.

Long time, No blog

Hello long lost friends! I have been in training this past week and Kevin has been a working, single dad until I returned home Friday evening. I think Kevin and Caroline ate at Chick Fil-A most nights and I know for a fact they had ice cream 4 of the 5 nights I was gone!

Our lack of blogging is not the result of a lack of pictures or funny quotes from Caroline.
She learned her full name this week, as well as all the names of our family members. She called me "Brooke Erin" today, called Nana and Papa today and told them their names are "Butch Henkelman and Phyllis Henkelman" and called Uncle Mike to let him know his full name is "Michael Robin Henkelman." Henkelman is a mouthful...trust me, I know.

So I am back from training and we are back to normal - yay! This post is long - hopefully I will blog more frequently now that I'm back home.

Here is Kev reading to Caroline a couple weeks ago - look how long she is!

Caroline painted this picture for "Mr. Matt", our friend who just left for FBI training in Virginia. Caroline loves Mr. Matt and she gave him this painting the night before he left Dallas. He has her painting hanging on his wall in Virginia. :)

Kevin took Caroline to ChickFilA on St. Patty's Day for craft night. She made me a rainbow picture. When she gave it to me, I asked her what it was a picture of. She told me its a picture of a "chicken nugget". I guess she has a one-track mind.
Kevin has been excited for a long while now to buy Caroline her first kite. We took it to the park yesterday evening and had a good time!

Caroline's patience with the kite was low, so we were soon at the play area of the park.

Today, Caroline wore her Derek Jeter Yankee shirt. It was a proud moment for me, although Kevin tried to teach her to say "Go 'Stros!"

We are dog-sitting the two dogs next door, Blue and Matty. They are the sweetest miniture Australian shepards and we have had so much fun with them since we don't have dogs. I'm thinking the dogs parents (Lindsey and Cap) may not ask us to watch the dogs again after they see Caroline and Farrah walking the dogs in this picture. :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Caroline's First Dentist Visit

Caroline's pediatrician recommended we take her to the dentist for two reasons. (1) She has a chipped front tooth from a fall on the sidewalk in front of our house and (2) She is very well-behaved at the doctor and sits still long enough to have a pediatric dental exam. (Please note I said she is well-behaved at the doctor...at least we know we have some potential to work with, right?)

So today was her first dental exam and she did great! They ended up brushing her teeth since she was having so much fun and was sitting so still. They said her chipped tooth looked fine and all of her teeth look great, despite our terrible job of brushing her teeth. :)

At the end of the visit Caroline said "What's her name?" to the hygenist and then told her "thank you". She was given a Dora sticker and a My Little Pony sticker so she was excited!

Here are pictures of her first dentist visit!

Caroline's First Movie...and other recent pictures

We haven't blogged in a while so we have a really long post this time. Kevin is feeling better and Caroline and I are happy to have him back!

Caroline is now sleeping with books instead of stuffed animals which we think is really cute. She still likes for Porter the Puppy and Baby Stella to sleep with her but she just has to have two books in bed with her. And, yes, we tuck the books in too! :)

We've had a good week and have lots of fun pictures to share with you. I realize some of the sentences are underlined but I can't figure out how to undo it. So, they are not anymore important than anything else - this website is currently smarter than me. :)

Last Sunday morning at 7:30, Caroline was already playing dress up.

On Friday afternoon, we went to the park with Caroline's friend, Farrah, and her mom (Allison) and baby brother, Azam.

The girls wanted to swing in the baby swings...

I was trying to take pictures of Caroline and Farrah standing next to each other. The next three pictures say a lot about 2 year olds and their resistance to authority. In this picture, Farrah decides they should sit instead of stand....and Caroline happily complies.
Once they are sitting, they decided to lay down instead.
And here they are, laying down at the park while I'm trying to take their picture.

On Saturday, we took Caroline to her very first movie at a theater! It was Disney Matinee Day at the theater and they had a 10:00 am showing of the movie Mulan. They had a princess theme so all the little girls came in princess dresses...it was so cute! Caroline made it through 1 hour and 15 minutes before deciding it was time to go. We thought it was pretty impressive. Caroline loved the "big tv" (also known as a movie screen) and we had a great time!

Mommy has her coffee as always...

Caroline trying to figure out why the lady is in a booth and talking through a microphone.
Kevin and Caroline walking into the theater...

Caroline in her seat eating popcorn!

Today we had a picnic in the front yard.

Laying on the blanket in the front yard, Kevin was lifting Caroline up high so she could touch the sky.

Caroline's Class Picture

Caroline had her class picture at day care taken a couple months ago and we got them back this week. We thought Caroline's was the only kid in the picture acting up until we saw Matthew, the little boy next to her, is picking his nose. (You can click on the picture below and it will get bigger so you can see the face Caroline is making.)
