Colorado for Labor Day

For Labor Day we went to Beaver Creek, Colorado with my family. What a great escape from the Texas heat! It was 30 degrees some mornings...we slept with the windows open and warmed up under blankets - it was wonderful! During the day it was pleasantly warm. We liked it so much we are going back to Beaver Creek for our 5th anniversary in November - can't wait!

Out the back door of the cabin.

It was Oktoberfest in Beaver Creek Village so Kevin and Caroline danced a jig.

Then the three of us did the Chicken Dance at Oktoberfest.

If there is a water fountain to play in, Caroline will find it...and she did in Beaver Creek Village.

The heated pool at the cabin...beautiful!

Outside Zino's restaurant. I feel like this looks like an engagement picture...minus the beer Kevin is hiding behind my back. :)

Papa with his coffee and Caroline with her hot chocolate on the patio in the morning.

The view of the ski slope from the back patio...we need to come back during ski season!

View of cabin and the mountains in the background.

Caroline on Papa's bike after he and Uncle Mike's bike ride.

Daddy and Caroline in Vail Village.

Going up Lionshead in the gondola. Caroline wasn't the least bit scared going up the mountain.

At the top of Lionshead, Caroline went on a pony ride.

Then came the tight rope walking contest. It starts as you would expect with Caroline trying it.

But then Kevin and Mike (two grown men) decide to have their own contest. It was the funniest part of the vacation so I have to share these pictures with you.

First, Kevin gives it a try.

Next up is Mike...who decides to hold onto all of his gear to help him balance.

Kevin - round 2...

We went to the Ritz Carlton for the marshmallow roast - it was really fun!

While Mom and I shopped in Beaver Creek Village, Papa and Caroline stayed outside and coreographed a dance routine they performed for us when we came outside the store. So funny!

Putt putt in the mountains.

Here are some pictures of Caroline bungee jumping...for the 7th time during our trip. (Thank you to Nana, Papa, and Uncle Mike for supporting Caroline newest obsession of bungee jumping. :))

After the bungee jumping, Caroline wanted to do rock climbing.

Caroline the Dare Devil and goodbye to our neighbors

While Caroline might have my personality, she is a dare devil like Kevin. Since we moved into a house with stairs, she jumps to Kevin from half way up the stairs. She literally jumps and free falls to him with a smile on her face. The good news is that I am getting used to her free falling to Kevin and I don't immediately sweat and panic every time it happens now. :)

Our next door neighbors in SA, the Cartwrights, just moved to Georgia. Although we only knew them for a month we loved them and loved living next door to each other. They brought me dinner and helped me so much while Kevin was gone. Caroline asked every day when Kira and Yamilia would get home from school and they would ask their mom on the way home if they could come see Caroline. Caroline decided she was a part of their family and was one of their sisters. The night before they moved we went over to their house for a final pizza party...here are some pictures.

This picture makes me laugh. Yasmeen and Kevin (the parents) were trying to take a picture of the kids with their grandpa but Caroline insisted she was a part of their family and got in the picture. Ha!

Yamilia is in elementary school so of course the younger kids wanted to do what she did. So here they are playing school.
