Memory Lane

Looking at the pictures of Caroline and Grant at the Pumpkin Patch this past Saturday made me want to look at their pictures in at the Arboretum last year in the Pumpkin Patch. Of course, that made me look at Caroline's first pictures with pumpkins when she was just under a year old. So let's take a trip down memory lane....

First 3D Movie and Pumpkin Patch

I'm catching up on the past couple of weeks - finally!

Sarah and I took the kids to see "Cloudy with a Chance Meatballs" in 3D at the NorthPark AMC. I think Sarah and I were most excited because we liked the book when we were little. Grant (and baby Nolan) did a good job of sitting down and watching the movie. Not Caroline. She was jumping off the steps along the sides of the theater yelling "Mom, watch me!" every time. At the beginning of the movie both kids sat with their 3D glasses on to watch the previews. 3D glasses have come a long way from Jaws in 3D with the fold out cardboard glasses.

This weekend Kevin went on his annual golf trip with Richie, Kyle, and Andrew so my mom and dad came in town to hang out with us. Friday night we went to eat with their friends, Rick and Vikki, from Austin who were in town babysitting their granddaughter, Kate. Here are Caroline and Kate at dinner together.

Saturday morning we went to the Arboretum to see the Pumpkin Patch with Craig, Sarah, Grant and Baby Nolan. FYI Caroline still calls Nolan "baby Melon".

Then they started making a roaring or grawling noise really loud at each other. They took turns making the noise while the other one laughed. Here Grant is roaring...

Caroline is in love with "baby Melon". She loves to pat him and give him kisses. Nolan is such a great, calm second child and just sits there while Caroline and Grant pat, kiss, hug, tug etc on him.

Line Leader and Recent Pictures

Today I picked Caroline up from school and her class was in another classroom lined up to walk back. As I saw Caroline's teacher open the door, I saw that Caroline was the line leader. Then I noticed that she seemed very bothered because her toe was over the line behind which the kids are supposed to line up. She was very busy trying to organize everyone in her class to back up so she could get her toe behind the line and kept saying "move back! move back!" As I told Kevin, it was literally 10 preschoolers squished into about 2 feet of space because she was pushing them back and they refused to move. I finally stepped in when Caroline started pushing the little girl behind her in the tummy and telling her to move back. When Caroline saw me she ran over to me and I asked her if she was the line leader. Her teacher said "She's always the line leader." Not that this story surprises anyone, especially those of you who've known me since I was that age, but we laughed really hard about it all evening.

Pictures from the last week:
On Friday we drove to Georgetown to see Nana, Papa, and Uncle Mike and to attend Julia White's 1st birthday party. While we didn't take any pictures at the birthday party, we took this one of the Peanut all partied out but still holding on to her balloon on the way home.

Caroline was really excited to swim at Nana and Papa's house but it rained all weekend. Even when it stopped raining the pool was freezing cold with rain water. Kevin wonthe "best dad in the world" award for taking Caroline in the pool on Sunday. They were both shivering so much that they ended up getting out quickly. Caroline screamed "I'm not cold!" for about 10 minutes after we took her out.

These are the magic goggles that have caused Caroline to turn into a mermaid. :)Yesterday I came home from work and found Kevin reading to Caroline on the front porch. The weather was great so they were enjoying the early evening. So cute!

Today, Kevin surprised Caroline (and me!) by bringing in a Nordstrom's bag of "surprises" for Caroline. He had gone shopping for her today and picked out some new dresses for her picture day at school tomorrow. Isn't that sweet?

Tonight Caroline and I had "girl's night out" with Katie Sheedy. This is Caroline wearing her rain boots right before we went. Yes, she wore them out. Its kind of the go-go dancer look.

Two Promotions

No, Kevin and I didn't get promoted...Caroline did! Remember that last week she was promoted to the next swimming level? This week her dance teacher emailed me Monday after her dance class and said she is moving up to the older girls dance class. So now she is dancing with 3.5-4.5 year old girls! Miss Karissa, her dance teacher, said she is "very talented". We are so proud of our little ballerina!

This morning Caroline told me she wanted a lollipop for her birthday. I love how simple (and cheap) little kids are.

We are enjoying all of the rain in Dallas and have had a busy week but hope things start to calm down and we can relax and listen to the rain a little bit more. :)
