Day 29 - The Tower of London Ceremony of the Keys tour

7/26/16

The kids and I took off for Covent Garden and the London Transport Museum this morning. (Spoiler alert: we didn't actually go to the museum...again!) This time we took the bus and walked through Picadilly Circus to get there. It was so crowded and touristy.

The kids finally took their picture with a member of the Met (metropolitan police officer).

And Spider-Man...random.

Yay for arriving at Covent Garden!

Tonight was our big evening at the Tower of London that we've been waiting for since we arrived. Kevin's job has contacts for a small night group tour of the Tower. It includes watching the Ceremony of the Keys that has occurred nightly at the Tower for 700 years.  Essentially it's the ceremonial locking of the doors to the Tower of London which hold the Crown Jewels.

Here is our tour guide.

After the first portion of the tour, we went back to the Yeamon Warder (Beefeater) private pub. It was filled with so much history!

We couldn't take pictures of any part of the key ceremony but here are some pictures from after the ceremony.
